Donald P. Cook

Founder & CEO

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Don came to Colorado in 1972 to attend business school at the University of Denver and to enjoy the Colorado lifestyle. A graduate of Harvard College, Don started his real estate career with what is now CB Richard Ellis, focusing on retail brokerage. After several years as a successful broker, in 1979 Don and a partner started First Western Development and became one of the top retail developers in Colorado. In 1986, Don formed DPC Development in its present form, and since its inception has acquired or developed over 100 properties and projects, primarily along the Front Range of Colorado, but also in Arizona, Texas and California. These ventures have involved over 6,000,000 square feet of industrial, retail and office space; approximately 2,000 apartment units; just under 1,000 condominium units; over 4,000 acres of raw land and various water rights, making DPC one of the most active, self-funded investors in Colorado commercial real estate over the past twenty-five years. The aggregate market value of these undertakings has significantly exceeded half a billion dollars. DPC's current and stabilized portfolio of commercial properties runs well over 2,000,000 square feet of space, in addition to various other real estate interests.

Over the years, Don and his wife, Patty, have been very much involved in and material supporters of Mental Health America of Colorado, the Hall of Life (Denver Museum of Nature and Science), the de Tocqueville Society (Mile High United Way), the Salvation Army, the Institute for Children's Mental Disorders and the Denver Inner City Parish, La Academia High School.
