Chris King directs DPC Development Company’s investments, strategic vision and overall operations. With a vision for long term value creation and stability, he has lead a management team that has been intact for over two decades, building a commercial portfolio of over 2 million square feet.
Chris has over 30 years of experience in the commercial real estate business. During this time he has successfully acquired, developed and overseen DPC’s office, retail and industrial building portfolio with transaction values in excess of $1 billion. His leadership has enabled DPC to grow its portfolio and avoid significant hardship during the economic downturn that was experienced over the last decade.
With a unique ability to find and create value in under-managed and ill-conceived properties, Chris has found investment opportunities through both traditional markets and creative structures such as the purchase of promissory notes and the perfection of lien claims to gain control of a property. He also has experience with various Colorado area municipalities, working with urban renewal authorities, metropolitan districts, and complex entitlement processes.
Chris spent his early years working for a local Denver developer where he was responsible for project management and leasing. Before joining DPC in 1992, he worked for Norwest Bank handling OREO dispositions and workouts.
Chris holds a B.A. Degree from Colorado State University with an emphasis on finance and economics. He is involved in various civic organizations and served as President of Colorado’s NAIOP Chapter in 2013, where is remains an active board member. Further philanthropic interests include The Boys and Girls Club of America, Hope House, La Academia, along with other charitable organizations. He is an active advisory board member of the Everitt Real Estate Center at Colorado State University and has spoken at business classes both at Colorado State and Miami University in Ohio.
